Therapeutic Coaching goes beyond setting goals, the aim is to bring YOU to a greater level of awareness, understanding and gain more clarity regarding problematic situations.
It is underpinned by the principle that many of the problems that you face in the present moment, have their origins in the past and in that many cases, taking the time to gently explore long held beliefs and historical events, greatly improves your understanding of where you find yourself in the present time.
Together we will create a personalised plan to help you feel emotionally grounded and supporting you to acknowledge and identify your emotions, using somatic experiencing when talking about the problems you currently face.
Therapeutic Coaching involves exploring your ‘Somatic Narrative’…….. what’s going on in your body when you talk about or reflect on problematic or painful events.
Therapeutic Coaching is a compassionate, supportive therapy helping you identify where you feel stuck and helping you to find the way forward that is aligned with your needs, help you to grow and thrive on your journey.
This is a large departure from traditional coaching but has been shown to be a powerful way to fast track those being coached to unearth and identify the authentic emotions and feelings at the heart of your problems.
What happens during Therapeutic Coaching?
Step 1 – Prescreening & Consultation
On the point of enquiry a prescreening form and contract will be emailed to you to ensure that you let me know what the intial issue is and any contra-indications.
The contract establishes the boundaries around us working together with information such as location, privacy, time-keeping, cancellations, payment, confidentiality and respect.
Once you are happy with the contract, it is signed and returned, the coaching relationship can begin.
Step 2 – The Therapeutic Coaching
This can take place face-to-face in my therapy room or via zoom, for 60mins. You will bring something that you would like to talk about that is causing you difficulty within your life.
During your sessions
I will support you in
- reflecting on your past-understanding how your past experiences influence your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours.
- guide you and bring your attention to tune into your body: connect with your physical sensations as a key to unlocking insight and self-awareness.I will guide you gently through the whole process drawing on my knowledge and experience to support you.
- Empowering you in shaping your future by building resilience and understanding.
You will:
- learn to identify your feelings behind your behaviours
- learn to understand why you react the way you do
- increase your awareness around your emotions
- discover ways to regulate your nervous system and balance your emotions.
Step 3 – Finishing Up
During the Therapeutic Coaching, I will give you a 5 minute time check to indicate the end of the session.
We may have discussed some supportive techniques that you can apply in your everyday life. I will send out any documents via email for you to try at home. You will be able to feed back in our following session how you are finding these.
